Check
Search for Keys "Once Per VTS Set" will prevent searching for
a key in every VOB. Only discs with mastering errors change keys in a
VTS set.
Checking DeCSSPlus -> VobDec as algorithm order is
slightly faster than the default one.
Then change CSS Detection Search Size to Custom at 1000
Blocks.
And if you want to, select "Select Main Movie Files"
in the On Startup section to enable one button ripping.
You can try the built-in Authentication method if you
like.. it didn't work on my machine. If it doesn't work just go back to
the default method.
The multiangle processing is not needed when you use a
decoder that can parse IFO files (e.g. FlaskMpeg). In case the decoder
is not IFO parsing capable I suggest you use a ripper that parses IFO
files - SmartRipper or vStrip.
The Tools menu enables to you find out the region of a disc. In the selection
dialog that comes up simply select the video_ts subdirectory on your DVD,
and to make files regionfree - once again you have to specify a directory,
but this time the one the movies files have been decrypted to where the
ifo files have been copied to (region info is stored in ifo and bup files).
There's even more options concerning the key search. For
instance you can simply have DVD Decrypter find a key for a certain vob.
Mark the VOB, then right click on it:
There's
all options you can do with a file. You can see how many AC3 streams there
are in a file, you can rip an AC3 stream, the video stream (m2v), decrypt
or decrypt using a specified, or found key by an earlier key search. Find
Key will simply scan the file for a key and the key will be stored in
memory. You can use it later on to decrypt the movie without having to
search for a key again. To do so, search for a key using the popup menu,
then mark all the files you want to decrypt using that key and right clock
on the files again:
As
you can see now you can select the key that we have found before to decrypt
all our files. Please note that usually all files called vts_XX_Y.vob
have the same key, where XX remains constant and Y can vary from 0-9.
For instance vts_02_1 and vts_02_6 have the same key, but vts_01_1 has
another key than vts_02_Y.
The option to enter a Custom Key is very useful if for
some reason you are unable to find a key but you know somebody who has
successfully ripped the same disc. You can simply ask him and he can give
you the key. All ripping programs tested in my DVD
Ripper Comparison will show you the key they deduce so it's no problem
for your friend to give you his key.
