Alternative Ripping programs
Are you not happy with my choice of ripping programs in the guides? Here's the rest of them..

Start the VobDec GUI with your DVD disk already inserted in the drive.
Generally
the files that are selected are the right ones. Only in some rare cases
the wrong files are selected.
In general a movie consists of 4 up to 8 1GB vob files named in a consecutive manner. Usually it's the largest collection of consecutively named vob files.
Click on the folder below Locations to select the path of VobDec and the path you want to copy the files to. Then click on the Go Button.
IMPORTANT NOTE: FlaskMpeg's DVD mode requires you to uncheck Multiangle otherwise it won't work!
If I'm not seriously mistaken and if there's no hidden bugs VobDec GUI should be able to decrypt any movie. The keysearch is actually threefold.. first there's a CSS checker running and if no CSS is detected the 0 key will be used, then if CSS is detected, findkey - based on the DeCSS+ source - will scan the VOBs, and if it doesn't find a key VobDec will do another keysearch. No other program will perform such a thorough keysearch and hence this is the tool of my choice, I might even consider going back from VobDec in the commandline since VobDec takes a bit longer to search a key than findkey.
To use FlaskMpeg's IFO mode you will also have to copy the largest ifo file on the DVD. Since ifo files are not encrypted you can simply drag&drop it in Explorer.

First of all let's sort out the most common misconception surrounding this program: cladDVD is NO RIPPER! Period. It says even so on the official homepage so don't mail me telling but XY said it was like... The program just comes with VobDec and dodsrip in the package - the latter is used to authenticate the DVD drive.
As
in VobDec GUI there's not really much to say. You can either select the
VOB files on your own and then press DeCrypt Files (remember: the main
movie is contained in the largest number of consecutively named VOB files,
for instance vts_02_1.vob up to vts_02_6.vob as in the example) or you
can simply press DeCrypt Movie which will automatically chose the right
VOB files for you. Don't forget to take the right .ifo file.. generally
the largest one. Pressing on Destination Directory will allow you to chose
where the files are to be copied.
If you're going to use FlaskMpeg later on then you should uncheck MultiAngle since otherwise you'll not be able to use FlaskMpeg's DVD mode.

During
startup the program will automatically authenticate the DVD drive and
it will then mark the main movie for decryption. All you have to do is
chose the destination folder and press the Decrypt button.
Disable multiangle processing by choosing Options - Multi-Angle Processing - Disabled and then press Decrypt.

I'd say the program merits it's name, it's really powerfully and offers some options you'll find useful once you know a bit more about the structure of a DVD. Of course you should be very careful with that program if you're not sure what you're doing. The Movie mode of SmartRipper is for pros only! Keep that in mind.
When you start up SmartRipper you'll see this window for a short time:
If
you get the error message (the image on the right) you'll have to start
up a software DVD player to authenticate the DVD drive. SmartRipper's
authenticate function seems not quite perfect at the moment.
SmartRipper will then display you something like this. Press Settings and chose the File Splitting. Probably the most useful setting is "every vob-file". If you like you can also have SmartRipper merge the files and split by a specified filesize.
