Avisynth & DirectShowSource()

If you have installed the SVCD pack then you can skip this first paragraph. Otherwise you'll have to install avisynth properly, that is copy the avisynth.dll to your system subdirectory of your windows directory (for instance c:\windows\system or c:\winnt\system). Then run the install.reg file by double clicking on it.

Then create an avs script in Notepad, for instance:

DirectShowSource("d:\dvd\vts_01_1.vob")+DirectShowSource("d:\dvd\vts_01_2.vob")

Add every vob file your main movie consists of. Ideally you have ripped the VOBs with an IFO parsing capable tool which will spare you to cut away any interlaced studio logo, FBI warnings, etc.

DirectShowSource() can render any file Windows Media Player can play. So if you can't play your VOBs then chances are slim that this will work. You can simply install the Ligos DirectShow filters plus an AC3 decoding filter as the Intervideo one and it will work. TMPEGEnc even allows you to load the VOB directly but either you have to use batch encoding or you use the AVS which seems easier to me.
